OSP (Open Settlement Protocol) is a client/server protocol that Internet service providers use to exchange authorization, accounting, and usage information to support IP telephony. OSP provides a way for ISPs to support billing for voice and fax over IP services.

What is OSP?
The Open Settlement Protocol (OSP) is the international standard for Inter-Domain pricing, authorization and usage exchange of IP communications. The OSP standard is defined by TIPHON Working Group 3 of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) www.etsi.org. The OSP standard is officially known as ETSI Technical Specification 101 321.

Open Settlements Protocol and Cisco Questions and Answers
The protocol specifies a method for an originating gateway at a subscriber carrier to request a termination point from the OSP server at the clearinghouse organization.
